The Home of

Silicon Valley

San Francisco is the best place for tech companies that want to get ahead, entrepreneurs with the next great idea, and small businesses that want to serve the bustling local economy.

The city’s mayor’s office backs that up, too, by highlighting that there are 94,000 small businesses in the city, which operate alongside dozens of multi-national firms.

That’s wonderful news for the city because it means the local economy is booming, making San Francisco one of the most desirable locations in America. It’s also good news, at least in some respects, for companies in San Francisco that benefit from all of the networking opportunities and B2B sales this thriving economy delivers.

But a city that is home to so many companies also presents challenges, especially to small organizations trying to establish a foothold in America’s hilliest city.

That challenge is competition.

To come out on the top of the pack, you’re going to need the best California SEO professionals in your corner. NEWMEDIA offers those professionals, along with the SEO strategies that will make your business the king (or queen) of the hill.

What Do Digital

Marketing Agencies

Do for Your San Francisco Business Goals?

On the most basic level, search engine optimization is one of the many digital marketing services that we offer at NEWMEDIA. The goal of this type of internet marketing is four-fold:

  1. Get (and keep) you at the top of search engines.
  2. Bring more eyes to your business.
  3. Create an SEO strategy that keeps organic traffic flowing.
  4. Use our creative services to bolster your credibility.

Let's dig deeper.

Get to the Top of Search Engines

We’re not saying anything ground-breaking when we say that your San Francisco SEO services need to get you to the top of Google (and other search engines) results. But what many business owners don’t realize is just how much those results matter when it comes to people even becoming aware of their companies.

Take a look at this chart from Backlinko:

google organic ctr

That chart shows the click-through rate (CTR), which is the percentage of people who click on a search result, for the top 10 positions in a Google search. According to Backlinko, the first result in Google gets 27.6% of the clicks, which means more than a quarter of all searchers will click that result.

From there, it’s all downhill, as the second result gets 15.8% of the clicks. That’s almost a 12% drop from the first result. Number three fares even worse, attracting just 11% of clicks, with the 10th result getting a minuscule 2.4%. By the time you get to the second page of Google’s results, your website may as well be invisible.

What this chart shows us is that it’s not enough to get on the first page of results. That’s a starting point. From there, you have to put time and effort into making the long climb to the top if you want to maximize the organic traffic flowing into your website. NEWMEDIA makes that climb easy.

Draw More Organic Traffic to Your Website

Speaking of organic traffic, there are a lot of sites out there that don’t get any. Check out this chart from Ahrefs:

organic search traffic from google

Ahrefs really went to town with this study, as it looked at over a billion web pages to get its results. And it found that over 847 million of the pages it examined get absolutely no organic traffic. That’s zero visitors from search. Zero, zip, nada. All told those 847 million webpages account for 90.63% of the pages on the web.

Shift your attention to the higher end of the chart, and you’ll also see that only 0.21% of web pages get 1,001 visitors or more. If you’re reading this and thinking that you don’t like the look of those odds, know that the 99.79% of sites that get fewer than 1,000 visitors are sites that have clearly not mastered search engine optimization.

Still, these results show us just how vital it is to have SEO experts by your side.

NEWMEDIA specializes in ensuring you land in that elite 0.21% of websites that get 1,001 visitors or more every month. With our combination of experience, combined with the right SEO tools, you’ll be swimming in the organic traffic you need to attract to bring more leads into your business.

Develop Your SEO Strategy

In a survey of business owners reported on by WordStream, we learn that SEO is the biggest revenue driver when it comes to digital marketing solutions:

digital marketing channel ROI

Almost half of companies (49%) say that SEO gives them the best ROI of any of their marketing campaigns, which makes a clear-cut case for why you need an SEO firm working with your San Francisco business.

And yet, far too many companies don’t have a defined strategy in place for SEO. Sure, they may run a few SEO campaigns. But no document in place defines the whys, whats, and hows of what they do.

The stats bear this out, too, as we can see from a 2022 report published by Search Engine Journal. Writing about a survey of 600 American and Canadian business owners, this report discovered that a staggering 57% of businesses have no SEO strategy in place, with 23% of the 600 companies surveyed saying they have no plans to give themselves a boost in major search engines over the next 12 months.

Given that SEO delivers such strong ROI for so many businesses, it boggles the mind that so many companies have no plan in place to improve their search engine rankings. But these stats also represent great news for your San Francisco business. After all, if over half of companies are so intent on missing out on the opportunities that improving their online visibility can bring, that means you face less competition with your own search engine optimization efforts.

So, our message is simple – don’t be one of the 57% of companies that have no strategy in place for SEO. Make your marketing investment count with SEO services from NEWMEDIA.

Give Your San Francisco Business a Credibility Boost

As we mentioned earlier, the top result in a search gets 27.6% of the clicks. That happens because searchers trust the first result more than they trust everything below it. They trust their search engine to deliver the best result for their search, so they naturally assume that the first result is the most credible of all of the results.

That credibility matters because it’s the first in a long line of steps your business has to take to build trust with a customer. And as these stats from Marketing Charts show us, trust matters when it comes to buying decisions:

impact of trust on a large purchase decision

According to this chart, only 2% of people say that trust has absolutely no impact on their decision to buy from a business. The other 98% say that trust matters to them at least “a little bit,” with 68% saying it matters either “a lot” or “a great deal.”

These stats are backed up by similar results shared by Raconteur. They say that 91% of customers are more likely to buy from local companies if those businesses do something to gain their trust.

Being on the top of the heap is about more than just attracting the most SEO traffic. It’s the first in a long line of credibility and trust factors that searchers use to figure out whether yours is the business that deserves their money.

Our Search Engine Optimization

(SEO) Services

Let’s break down what the top SEO companies can do for you:

  • Use digital advertising and marketing to create the trust that 98% of people say they need to have in a business to buy from it.
  • Ensure you’re not lumped into the 57% of companies that have no plan in place for search engine optimization.
  • Land you in the top 0.21% of businesses that manage to get 1,001 organic visitors or more to your website.
  • Make sure you’re working with an SEO company that gets you the top search engine ranking, leading to you getting at least 27.6% of the clicks from searches.

Here’s how our agency achieves these things for our San Francisco SEO clients.

Keyword Research

Keywords seem like they should be the easiest thing to figure out for your business. You just put yourself in your customers’ shoes, imagine what they’re going to search for, and focus all of your efforts on ranking for those terms, right?

If only it were that simple.

Keyword research is a complicated game that involves figuring out a searcher’s intent and tweaking the phrases they target until you find that perfect balance between bringing in traffic and targeting keywords that lead to sales. And that’s a balance that a lot of companies get wrong, as these stats from PPC Hero demonstrate:

converting vs non converting keywords

That pie chart shows us that 19 out of every 20 keywords (about 95% of them) don’t lead to conversions. In this case, a conversion could be anything from a sale to a prospect starting a conversation with your business. If you’re not tracking (and reporting on) the keywords you target, you’ll have no idea how many of them fall into the non-converting category.

NEWMEDIA’s marketing specialists ensure you’re not wasting money on pointless keywords.

Local SEO

Type a term like “hardware store in San Francisco” into Google, and you’ll see something like this pop up:

google search results san francisco

Those three results are all local businesses that are part of what Google calls its “local pack.” That’s an elite group of businesses because this trio gets displayed above the organic search results, making them the first three results a user sees when they make a local search.

And that local pack gets more clicks than even the first result in a Google search, as this chart from Neil Patel highlights:

clicks chart

With 44% of the clicks (compared to 29% of clicks from organic search), the local pack is the place to be if you want to reach customers in your area. NEWMEDIA is the SEO agency in San Francisco that gets you into the local pack.

Content Marketing Services

Every top SEO agency will tell you that “Content is King.” After all, it’s content that makes search engines work, as the simple goal of Google is to find the content that best answers the question that a searcher types.

Content is also a powerful source of customers, as this chart from Visme demonstrates:

reasons to use content marketing

According to this survey of marketers, 86% of people say content is the key to building brand awareness, with 79% saying that their content helps them to educate their audience. Trust and credibility also improve thanks to content, with 75% of marketers saying that the words they write on their web pages create the credibility that prospects need to see before they’ll become paying customers.

Speaking of customers, this same chart shows us that good content matters when generating sales, at least if 53% of marketers are to be believed.

Whether it’s written content, imagery, or video production, NEWMEDIA ensures your website’s visitors see the content they need to see.

Link Building

Imagine that you’re searching for recommendations about the best pizza place in San Francisco.

The reputation of the individual recommending a place matters in these situations. You’re far more likely to trust the opinion of a good critic, especially one who loves pizza, over the word of somebody who’s never tasted a slice of pizza in their lives.

Google takes the same approach when it comes to the links you build for your website.

You could take the scattershot approach of putting a link on every directory or article blog that’ll have you. But those directories and blogs may not have anything to do with your industry, meaning Google sees that link as a “recommendation” from a site that has no actual idea whether your company offers customers what they need.

Compare that to getting a link from one of your industry’s thought leaders, who are people or organizations that know what your industry is about, and you can guess which link is going to mean more to search engines.

Throw the risk of penalties into the mix (Google will unleash the dreaded Penguin to kick you out of search results if you have a ton of bad links), and you’ll see why you need an SEO company that knows linking inside and out in your corner.

Web Development and Web Design

First impressions matter in every aspect of life. If you’re going on a date, your first impression of the person you meet sets the tone for the entire date. When you’re buying a house, its curb appeal affects your opinion long before you set foot into the property. And when somebody visits your website, its design has a huge impact on what they think about your business:

web design tips

Webiqquity says it takes a fraction of a second for a visitor to get their first impression of your website, and that impression influences what they think about your company’s professionalism. And with 94% of a customer’s first impression stemming from web design, it’s clear that your site has to look the part.

But it also has to work, which is where web development comes in.

Coming back to the brief data analogy we started with, your website’s design is the clothes and accessories that make your data stand out from the crowd. The development side is all about the substance. Everything has to click for a first date to go well, and everything on your website has to work to maintain a good first impression.

Online Reputation Management

We’ve already established that your credibility matters to customers. Remember that 98% of them need to feel some trust in your business before they’ll buy. While your website is key to creating that trust, your reputation away from the sources that you control is just as important.

Take a look at these stats from Finances Online:

customer reviews statistics

Over two-thirds of customers (68%) say they’re more likely to work with a San Francisco business that has positive reviews, while 80% of people say they only trust a rating of four or higher on a five-star scale.

Think of these reviews, and everything else written about your company away from its website and social media, as off-site SEO. You need to look as good to your customers when they check other sources as you do when you present yourself on your website. NEWMEDIA makes sure that happens.

Website Optimization

While all the on-site and off-site stuff matters when it comes to SEO, too many companies neglect technical SEO because they’re laser-focused on getting content and keywords right. That’s highlighted in this collection of stats from Search Engine Journal:

links and redirects

A shocking 16.98% of businesses haven’t configured their website’s domains correctly, making it much harder for search engines to crawl and rank those sites. And over a third of websites (33.29%) have broken links, which either lead to 404 pages or send customers in circles as they try and find what they’re looking for.

These little technical errors matter, especially when you recall that 94% of people form their first impression of your business based on web design factors. If a link doesn’t go where it’s supposed to go, your website has a navigational issue that’s going to make customers more likely to bounce away. Combine that with incorrectly configured domains, and you have the recipe for an SEO crisis, even if you get everything else right.

NEWMEDIA makes sure you avoid that crisis by optimizing websites for technical, as well as traditional, SEO.

Our Past Projects

Our Esteemed Clientele

There’s a good reason why major brands like Six Flags and California Almonds come to NEWMEDIA when they need SEO:

We get results.

Some of the small businesses we’ve worked for have achieved 10,000% growth over five years, thanks to our SEO experts. As for the national companies that come to NEWMEDIA, we have a track record of using digital marketing to boost online revenue to $1 million per day.

Delta Sky Club

The new Delta Sky Club website portal, designed and developed from scratch by NEWMEDIA, allows Delta passengers who go online in any of their Sky Club lounges across the U.S. to quickly get news, weather & stock market information, in addition to tracking flights on any airline (not just Delta!), searching directly in Google, and getting maps and driving directions to/from any address on Earth.

California Almonds

NEWMEDIA Los Angeles, in collaboration with Sterling-Rice Group (SRG), built a new website for the Almond Board of California under an aggressive development timeline. We built a multi-language website for them while ensuring a consistent user experience by bringing all four existing websites into a single universal system. Our team of experts delivered this mammoth project even after the deadline was shortened by four weeks.

Six Flags

The Six Flags team reached out to NEWMEDIA for a complete website redesign and multi-site ecommerce web development. We redesigned the website to change its complete look and feel and organized content into categories and subcategories to simplify content discovery for visitors. Over the course of the project, we worked in close coordination with the Six Flags team to deliver the website quickly before their parks reopened.

PostNet

PostNet approached us to completely redesign all their websites, including those of franchisees. We developed a fresh responsive website for them to offer a consistent browsing experience to visitors irrespective of the screen size of the device they use to access the website. Additionally, we developed a tool to help visitors find their nearest PostNet center. Finally, we designed the 300+ franchise websites for them with local SEO and franchise SEO.

YMCA (The Y)

YMCA (now “The Y”) is an organization that we’ve all heard of and/or been a part of at one time in our lives. YMCA of Metro Denver came to us for a fresh website design that would communicate their mission of being for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Even more exciting, they had just had a brand refresh and this was the chance to support that refresh with a complementary website.

Haystack

When CBS Television was producing the show that came to be called Haystack Help, they needed a complex yet easy to use website application to direct the TV viewers to visit, and their search for a Denver website developer led them to NEWMEDIA. Initially, prior to contacting NEWMEDIA, they had selected another web development partner for the project. Then, there was a problem…
